What is Eirakuya?
A cotton cloth merchant in Kyoto founded in the early Edo period (1615). Prior to founding the company, he was active as an official merchant for Lord Oda Nobunaga, and received the trade name ``Eirakuya'' and the surname Hosotsuji. After that, the company changed from kimono to cotton fabric and started its business. Today, we are Japan's oldest cotton cloth merchant, selling hand towels and furoshiki, and have been in business for over 410 years in Kyoto for 14 generations.
